What You'll Learn

Medical Administrative Assistants perform a variety of duties that may include patient reception, scheduling appointments, electronic medical records, compiling and recording medical charts, patient communications, and reports.

Link clinical processes and procedures to the billing and coding processes of the revenue cycle
Update and maintain patient information, medical records, financial, billing and revenue cycle information
Work directly with patients to assist them with medical administrative tasks

Program Outline

Certified Medical Administrative Assistant training is an accelerated program delivered virtually over 15 consecutive weeks for a total of 90 hours. The cohort meets with the online instructor two days a week for three hours.

  • Section 1: Medical Administrative Assistant

    In this session, students will learn essential medical administrative skills responsible for the day-to-day operations of a medical office or other health care organizations.

  • Section 2: Certification Preparation

    Students prepare and practice to sit for the National Healthcareer Association Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) examination.

  • Section 3: Career Development

    Students learn and practice essential skills for career development which includes job search, resume writing, and interview skills.

The Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) credential provided by the National Healthcareer Association (also called medical office administrative assistants or medical secretaries) demonstrates proven expertise in efficiently and effectively running a variety of healthcare organizations. Students attain both a training certificate of completion from 世界杯官方app and are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam from the NHA upon completion of the 世界杯官方app CMAA training program.

Steve Carpenter 世界杯官方app
Steven Carpenter, MHA, MSS, MA, CBCS, CCMA, CMAA

Steven Carpenter is an instructor of the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist Course at 世界杯官方app. He began his teaching career at the University of the Incarnate Word in partnership with Career Education Services and the Alamo Colleges District, San Antonio, in 2018, instructing over 200 students to achieve their certifications to work in healthcare clinics and hospitals.

His healthcare experience includes 24 years of military service with the United States Army as an enlisted Medical Specialist and a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Medical Service Corps. He graduated from the United States Army – Baylor University Master’s Program in Healthcare Administration and has a master’s degree from the United States Army War College in Strategic Studies. He also holds a master’s degree in Computer Resources Management from Webster University.
